Effects of band steaming on weed control, weed community diversity and composition and yield in organic carrot at three Mediterranean sites

چکیده
Band steaming is a non-chemical weed control method of increasing interest for highly remunerative, low competitive crops. This study aimed to test the field application new prototype band-steaming machine in three organic fields under contrasting Mediterranean environmental conditions. Trials were conducted carrot real-field conditions investigate effects doses and one (no steaming) on vegetation crop yield. Soil temperature at application, density species level during growth, biomass harvest sampled each site. significantly affected total density: when comparing untreated with highest steam dose, reduction ranged from 62% (−492 plants m−2) site II 94% (−146 III. Generally, diversity communities decreased indicating progressive filtering effect: Fumaria officinalis L. Sonchus oleraceus filtered by I, while Polygonum lapathifolium Portulaca oleracea sites Weed community composition was dose two out three. Small seeded (seed mass <1.5 mg) less tolerant than large seeds. Through density, gave advantage, fresh yield 47% III (+3,646 g m-2) 92% (+1,866 m-2), compared yields non-steamed plots.

Individual and interactive effects of crop type and management on weed and seed bank composition in an organic rotation
We investigated the effects of organic and conventional pest and fertility management on weed cover and the seed bank community in an organic rotation. The study was conducted during the 4th and 5th years of an organic rotation on part of a long term organic-conventional comparison trial. Results showed that although crop type (potato vs. cabbage) in a single year significantly affected wee...

To evaluate the effect of herbicide band application and cultivator on weed control, yield and yield components of potato, an experiment was conducted using factorial arrangement based on randomized complete block design (RCBD) with four replications at Research Field of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, Mashhad, Iran during 2015. Experimental factors included cultivator at two levels (with and w...

Effect of living mulches and conventional methods of weed control on weed occurrence and nutrient uptake in potato
The aim of the study was to determine the biomass, abundance and species composition ofweeds, as well as macroelement uptake in potato weeded using mechanical, mechanical–chemical and mechanical control combined with the sowing of living mulches of white mustard, common vetch, Persian clover and tansy phacelia. Abundance and biomass of the weeds was themost effectively limited by the mechanical ...
